tribute sandals

in my neverending quest for casual, heeled sandals, i have come to realize that the trib sandals are perfect. the colour, the height, the well thought out simplicity, etc.

i love this girl so much. that dress with those purple ankle boots, so good. when someone told her her bum looked nice she replied "thanks, it’s silicone"

vertical

i havent done too many restaurant posts, which is surprising because i love trying new places and do it quite frequently. this summer i find myself working at brookfield place, right in the hub of torontos financial district - surprising i know. anyway, yesterday my dads lunch plans were cancelled and we went to vertical at first canadian place. although i hadnt been to the restaurant before, it was already a special space to me because my grandfather had a french restaurant in the same space when i was a child. i didnt recognize it at all, until we went out on the patio, which felt exactly the same. anyway, although chef tawfik shehata is not one of the bigger names in culonary toronto, his plates are very precise and innovative; you cant get them at any other restaurant. and despite the busy location, the patio was surprisingly comfortable and removed.

my love for this givenchy hairband keeps growing! but i cant buy it, so how can i make it? i love how it somehow looks strong instead of girly. and in the bottom photograph it almost looks mickey mouse-ish.

stella resort

ive always admired stella mccartney's personal style and enjoyed her shows, but i have never been as impressed with her as i am right now. her 2010 resort collection was brought to my attention by mosha, and i found it so good that i couldnt put its amazingness into words. stella had an incredible selection of black and white basic pieces, as well as some playful statement pieces.

part II

these statement pieces are simple and playful, and can be paired with stella basics.

paparazzi

i first saw this the other day at richards place, and i was blown away at how great this video is. music videos very rarely impress me, but this one is intense and well executed. it features incredible fashion (that she is owning), and i became completely fixated with the stimulation of the darkness of the paparazzi. and not in a "look how famous i am" way; it seems to be coming from a very centred perspective.

word of the day: noir

mosha sent me this. its so wonderfully emanuelle, and very inspiring.

summer looks - la flaneuse edition

it is safe to say that an era of fashion has developed in the aesthetic of french editors and the row-esque morals. in april vero wrote about her take on this zeitgeist, here. ive discussed this concept at length with many of my fashion-passionate friends (and on my blog), and everyone seems to be in agreement. abandon the tricky trend pieces, and focus on the well-crafted, effortless garments. uniforms are completely acceptable as well. shower every day and wear that james perse tee consistently!
these images are of the pieces i have been living in since april. the pictures are huge when you click for detail.
white pocket tank, wilfred. black cotton bra, elle macpherson intimates. grey tee, james perse. black boxing shorts, graham&spencer. ripped denim, alex wang. bandage skirt, h&m. tappered man trousers, alex wang.
if i need to dress up
white blazer, zara. sequned belt, vintage. right detail of white tank/black bra

girls and boys sunglasses, vintage and dior homme. assorted jewelery.. high and low. scarf, etro.
as far as cosmetics go, i havent branched beyond nars bronzer, dior show mascara, and champaca absolute perfume by tom ford.

les chausseurs: gladiators, beat up chanel flats, urban outfitters everyday heels, miu miu clogs and worn red miu miu flats.

joyeux anniversaire

happy birthday to my friend vero! this is one of my favorite pictures of her (right). even though it doesnt show her pretty face its intriguing and chic, like her. plus it reminds me of this hedi slimane shoot with daria.

montaigne market

aka, heaven. this is a three-level boutique in monaco that has been referred to as a space for dreams that holds both new and vintage pieces.
"alaïa dresses mingle with balmain denim and loris azzaro eveningwear, whilst retro rolexes and garrard wings jewelry are offered alongside signed christian louboutins and giuseppe zanotti platforms. " what a happy place.
