elles @ centrepompidou

having been thoroughly impressed by the feminist revolution art at the vancouver art gallery at the end of 2008 (wack), i was really excited to see an exhibit featuring female artists at the centre pompidou in paris. the exhibit was massive (we seriously needed espresso after), and the amazing part is that its made up of pompidou's permanent collection! how fortunate is this city!
anyway, the curating was very clear without overloading the viewer with information. i have the themes listed below. as a sidenote, i was intrigued and thrilled by the fact that children were visiting ths exhibit with their parents despite the heavy, abstract, and sometimes graphic nature of the art. just something i think should be more common in north american culture.

themes: pioneers, free fire, body slogan, the activist body, a room of one's own, wordworks, and immaterial.
